Ready for clear coat!
Final Design
Some more paint lifting so touchup will be required but other than that I am not touching the backplate after this. The clear coat will lock down all of the paint.
As usual, the backplate was a test of patience. Some paint lifted due to the material Bauer uses for these backplates. But I am now laying down the darker blue, masking out the stars.
Letting the paint rest then background on the right side. Continue with the wing details on the left.
Laying down some white and the lighter blue. Next, block out the stars and start laying down the darker blue.
Black layer applied, next adding colors…may reposition the wing, may be too low.
Black layer applied. Rest for one day then clear coat to protect.
Helmet prep. Hardware and padding removed, sanded, cleaned, then primed. Ready to apply tape and masking.
